"How Do I Know If I Am Ready?" That said, I do encourage people to gain these basic skills prior to attending, which I teach on my instructional DVD. These skills include: contact points, hoop recovery methods, the magic of turning, hooping above the waist versus hooping on the buttocks, hooping on the torso, hooping on an extreme angle by leaning either forward or backwards, dancing with the music while hooping by fully articulating the arms, head, fingers, knees and feet, hooping on the legs, swinging the hoop on each side of the body, being responsive to melody and the downbeat in music by moving in response, transitioning to the floor while hooping, gentlebeginning tosses, beginning body rolling, synchronizing your hooping with breathing. Listen to your intuition. If you have a strong calling to teach hooping, but feel unsure about your skills, you can certainly improve enough with some weekly/daily practice before the training. If you feel called to teach, go for it! You also have plenty of time to run a couple practice teaching sessions with your friends in a more formal way just to gain the experience of being a teacher so you have more to bring to the table when you attend. What students are saying...
"I thoroughly enjoyed my training experience. HoopGirl Teacher Training provides a very tangible structure for building a business... not only as a HoopDancer, but as an entrepreneur! Christabel has a rare willingness to share her experience candidly in order to ensure the success of her trainees. I loved the integration of all that was taught in the final teaching drill (even to the inclusion of role-playing as difficult students - brilliant!). The format of the training itself felt both structured and fluid. Given the opportunity, I would doanother training with Christabel in a heartbeat!" - Candice Shutter, Nia Black Belt, Life Coach and Hoopdancer "Exhilerating, empowering, and totally absorbing. Highly recommended and a priveledge to be a part of the HoopGirl Training!" - Susan Taylor, Fitness Instructor "I was very impressed with the size and quality of the information provided in the manual, as well as the thoroughness of the group exercises. It actually exceded my expectations. The slow but sure transformation of my confidence in teaching was the most gratifying part for me. I feel very confident and excited to hold my first class! The format provided is a basic structure that I can always go to, but you also gave us plenty of room to make it our own." - Annie Weinert, Costume Designer "Empowering. I feel fully prepared to teach and ready for any awkward students ... I am buzzing with energy and excitement!" - John Parnell, Family Entertainer "This course met my expectations by 110%! I've had a fantastic weekend." - Caroline Pettigrew, Personal Trainer "I read everything on the website and everything said by others as well. This class met my expectations totally and went even beyond that! Probably the most I learned in such a short time ever." - Karin de Wit, Movement Artist "The best thing about the training was Christabel's willingness to share every detail of her vast knowledge of promoting classes, managing media, and class structure. Her devotion to our success was truly touching and inspired me to share my knowledge with others for their success." - Amanda MacDonald, Whole Foods Products Buyer "I was basically handed all of the skills/resources I need! Christabel gifted each aspiring teacher an incredible toolbox stocked full of everything we would need to start our own classes... while launching a new hoop movement in [our] areas. Thanks!" - Jessica Weiler, Nurse "This class more than met my expectations. Christabel is definitely strong in her business and inspirational in her teaching. I would recommend this course to anyone considering a career in hoopdance." - Satise Dizon, Elementary School Teacher "The best thing about the training was breaking through my nervousness about explaining the moves while moving and speaking over a mic. I realized I had been holding off on teaching because I would get hung up on how to explain doing things verbally to people. I allowed this to stop me before. Now I can jump in and learn as I go, explain what I know, and the rest will come!" - Dawn Light, Theta Healing Practitioner and Teacher Trainer Who Are the Master Trainers?
