Amazing Morning Hoop Smoothie

For the last 2 weeks I have been having my green smoothies again in the mornings. It feels SO good to be back. I can see such a difference in my energy levels and even my skin!

This morning I was out of bananas so I just used what we had around. It was AWESOME!

Morning Hoop Smoothie
5 pieces of large kale
1/2 container alfalfa sprouts
1 cucumber
3 dates
1 tablespoon omega oils
1 teaspoon agave nectar
1 3/4 cups water

Yum!

HoopGirl Smoothie: The Green Goddess!

voilagreensmoothie.jpgA lucky accident based on what was in today's fruit bowl!

Green Goddess Smoothie
1 apple
3/4 head of spinach
2 dates
1 3/4 cup of water
knob of fresh ginger

Wow! This is delicious! A nice way to start the day. The ginger is especially warming for a cool, cloudy day. Enjoy!

Today's Surprise Smoothie

01-lime-slices-background.jpg For the past two weeks I've been back on the smoothie-train. A green smoothie to start the day -- some have been spinach and fruit based... some have been completely savoury with celery, parsley and even garlic! Today's mid-day smoothie was actually a surprise for me because a) I haven't had two in one day in a long time and b) because I randomly just threw in the fruit which had not yet gone bad... along with a sample of a shake powder.. and it was great!

Here's what I had...

Surprise Smoothie
1 asian pear
1/2 avocado
1/4 lime
1/2 bannana
1 plum
1 packet of Nutiva Organic Hemp Shake, Acai flavor
1-2 cups water

What came out what a thick, almost pudding-like smoothie which has been satisfying my appetite quite nicely! Sweet! Life is good.

Guest Blogger: JennaLuna Writes About Her 21 Day Detox Experience...

I am thrilled to have JennaLuna, a teacher and trainer on staff here at HoopGirl, as today's guest blogger! Read on for her experience using the 21 Day Detox Program...

I am excited to be guest blogging here on HoopGirl about my 21-Day Detox experience. I first must say that I have some definite issues with food. I am a classic emotional eater, stuffing my face when I am feeling sad, stressed, anxious, and even happy. I also just love heavy foods like breads and cheeses, salty/crunchy foods, lots of soda and of course some sweets here and there.

I have been aware for a very long time that my eating habits needed to evolve…in the past few doctor’s visits I have had high cholesterol. Not through the roof high, but enough that a woman in her early 30’s should be a little concerned about. I also hit my heaviest weight last year and that was difficult for me. But still, my food addictions have always gotten the best of me and I didn’t do much about it. Luckily in moving to the Bay Area 6 months ago, I have lost some weight. This is due to the fact that I have been able to take more hoop classes here in the area and am also now teaching hoop classes here at HoopGirl. I also started school at UC Berkeley and if you have ever been there you know the hills are a killer…so walking around campus has helped as well....
