Wow. I was in a bubble bath reading Present Moment Wonderful Moment, by Thich Nhat Hanh. What a gorgeous book. Exactly what I am needing to ground during these accelerated times. It provides Buddhist poetic verses called gathas which can be recited throughout the day during activities to welcome a more meditative state of presence.
I love them all and find myself taking deep breaths after reading them, just soaking them in.
Here is a neat one from the book for brushing your teeth:
"Brushing my teeth and rinsing my mouth,
I vow to speak purely and lovingly.
When my mouth is fragrant with right speech
A flower blooms in the garden of my heart"
I am inspired to be more aware of the miracles which surround me at every turn. The joy of turning on lights, washing one's hands, taking precious steps, putting on well made clean clothes, eating wonderous nourishing food, being able to speak on the phone with relatives who live so far away. All these things are gifts that are easy to take for granted. Wonderful gifts and opportunities which invite me to think of others and wish the same wealth of experience upon them. Life is filled with so many gifts. So many opportunities to feel happy. So many opportunities to open the heart.
Thank you!
